Pop It Ups Butterfly Pivot Swirls & Curls

I've used Karen Burniston's Pop It Ups Butterfly Pivot to create this card, it's full of beautiful butterflies.  Look at the large butterfly on the pivot......I made that by laying a butterfly stencil down onto the gold metallic paper & then putting clear glossy embossing paste over the top, now here's the hard part LET IT DRY....and I mean completely dry without touching it.  I must confess that I am impatient while waiting for things to dry (as you will see on the open card).  Back to the embossing paste, when it's wet I sprinkled Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter over the top - it really sparkles.  So after this has completely dried I used the butterfly die included in the Butterfly Pivot set to cut the shape out.
To make the lovely shaped edge & flourish, I used Agatha Edges.  That brings me to the other smaller butterfly from Butterfly Accessories die set.  I used the filagree die in that set to cut a stencil from acetate, laid the stencil down onto my gold metallic paper & white embossing paste over the top & while it was wet I sprinkled  glitter gold embossing powder over the top.  Now I wish that my gold glitter embossing powder had more glitter than what it has, but I can't have it all now can I?  So I had to let it dry completely before hand cutting the butterfly out.  I die cut another filagree butterfly in gold & put that right over the top so the holes/openings all lign up & it makes a nice 3-D butterfly.

Here's the inside & I hope you can see how sparkly these butterflies really are.  The sentiment is a Stampin Up Hostess set called Swirls & Curls Verses and is die cut using Chalk Talk Framelits.  To cut the Whisper White piece, I used my trimmer to make it more narrow than the die really is & just cut the edge so it would match the shape of my mat piece.  I used Crushed Curry & Calypso Coral Stampin Write Markers to color over the top of the sentiment.  I wish my handwriting were this neat, I know a gal who does actually write this neat on her cards - yes Karen Aicken I am talkin' bout you.

And a close up to see the embossing paste goodness!  Look on the back butterfly, can you see it - I didn't wait for it to completely dry so it squashed a bit when I die cut the butterfly out.  Oops & lesson learned.

Happy Stamping,
Raquel

Double High Katie Label

So I finally found the time to try out Karen Burniston's technique of doubling the height of the Pop It Ups Katie Label and it didn't dissapoint.  My finished card size is 5 x 7.   I love how I could add a much larger image to the card & it's also fun seeing what other dies I could use in that much larger shape.  I pretty much stuck to what Karen did by using Katie Label & Fancy Frame Accordian but I chose to hide the fold with more patterned paper on the right side & just hand cut out where the Katie Label actually opens.  I also used the trim from Fancy Frame Edges & just cut off the excess making a nice lacey trim.  The image is from Inky Antics - so funny - that I got from my local store Stamp Boutique (keep an eye out if you're local as I will be using this stamp for a class).

On the right & left edges I used more patterned paper but cut them with Stampin Up's Adorning Accents Edgelits & matching embossing folder and I've also added the same trim to match the front.  I colored the image using colored pencils & some Wink of Stella - now I wish you could see the glittery goodness in her boa.  Can you see her glittery shoes?  Yep what gal wouldn't want glittery shoes - Dorothy loved her red shoes & this gal loves her green heels.  My gal is pushing the tacky boundaries with her leopard dress, I used to have purple leopard patterned paper....couldn't find it so I had to try to color it in.  I'll be on the lookout for leopard paper I think.

I stamped the sentiment with Basic Black & used Pistachio Pudding to stamp the little flowers from Summer Silhouettes onto Katie Labels (included in the die set).  I love how these dies are wafer thin (can fit more in my crafting area - see I am justifying get more & more), comes as a set so you can layer more & you can even put the pop up or pivot portion anywhere on your card & you can make your card any size - you choose.

Pop N Cut Stampin Up Label Riley challenge

Does this paper look familiar?  I mentioned I would make it into a pop up and I've used Karen Burniston's Pop N Cut (Sizzix) with the Stampin Up Label insert for this card.  I stamped Popping out of Cake Riley onto Whisper White, colored him with Spectrum Noir markers, fussy cut him & then put him on Dimensionals over a circle that I embossed with the Sale-A-Bration Decorative Dots EF (I sponged over the dots a bit with Chocolate Chip).  The "Surprise" sentiment came in the clear Riley set.

I am playing along with Riley & Co's challenge #0414 today to make a card & matching envelope.  NO problem with the Envelope Punch Board from Stampin Up.  I used my Agatha Edges to make that shape into the top & bottom of the card.  I die cut another Label pop up portion in the argyle & simply glued that over the River Rock.  To get the stripe & houndstooth pieces to perfectly fit in my card, I die cut them at the same time as I cut my River Rock inside card.  You can simply put a little bit of adhesive on your 2 patterns & then run it through your Big Shot.  By doing this all at the same time, you are assured that all your pieces will lign up.

I stamped & colored another Riley for the inside of my card & attached him to the Label pop up.  I added a little Wink of Stella to the banners around Riley - unfortunately it's hard to see in the photo.  I used  a flag pole from Karen Burniston's Pop It Ups collection - Lots of Pops.  To secure the flagpole to the Label pop up I used a tiny staple.  To adhere the sentiment I punched 2 Curly Labels & sandwiched them together around the flagpole.  The Happy Birthday sentiment is from Sassy Sentiments & is die cut using the Stampin Up's Label Framelits.  I sponged a bit of Chocolate Chip around the edges of both sentiments.

Happy Stamping,
Raquel

Golden Oldies Spectrum Noir Challenge

I made this card for the Spectrum Noir Masculine Challenge.  I know I find creating masculine cards a bit harder than female cards & I found this one even more challenging because it's not a pop-up card!  I know me creating a regular card, crazy right? (Insert lots of laughter).  I've also challenged myself to use up some papers I've had for a while & I even had enough to make another card - yes that one IS a Pop It Up and will be posted later in the week.
This card is 5 x 5 cut from River Rock card stock.  My image is from a retired Stampin Up set called Golden Oldies & I've colored him with Spectrum Noir Markers, then fussy cut him & poped him up with Dimensionals.  I've used Karen Burniston's Pop It Ups designed for Elizabeth Crafts Square with Circle Frame Edges to make the striped frame around my card, I even got out my sewing machine to stitch those zig-zags.  My sewing skills were downgraded when I tried to sew the circle ooopps it slipped & the next thing you know it's all crooked.  To cut the circles, I used the Accordian Circle die.  I stamped the sentiment onto Whisper White & used the LG & XL Oval Punches to punch those out.

For the inside I used a sentiment from Riley & Co called Old & Senile - funny right?  I think the sentiment goes perfect with the image, I love it when that happens.

Happy Stamping,
Raquel

Pop It Ups Fancy Label Accordian cupcake

I am not responsible for readers craving cupcakes after viewing this yummy card.  The base is cut using Karen Burniston's Fancy Label Accordian die for Elizabeth Craft Designs.  The Cupcake w/ Candle & Bow and Happy Birthday die is from Elizabeth Craft Designs.  Elizabeth Craft Designs also has peel off stickers in this same image, they are so much fun - you should try them out.  The flourish in the corner is cut using Agatha Edges die.

The sentiment is from Stampin Up's Sweet Little Sentiments (retired) and die cut using Katie Label Pivot Card.  To ink the sentiment I used Stampin Write Markers.  I love how Karen has thought of everything when creating these dies, all the sets coordinate beautifully....not to mention they are SO MUCH FUN!
To decorate the cupcakes, I die cut several different colors from sticker paper so I would have an outline & all the little pieces to put back into the cupcake.  If you don't have sticker paper you can use Multi Purpose Adhesive Sheets on regular cardstock which makes any paper into sticker paper.  I'm honest when I say it took a while to put all those little pieces back into the cupcake, after I finished I had wondered if I coudl've used Elizabeth Craft Designs Transfer Sheet to help keep all the pieces in place instead of searching for the right piece.....kinda like putting a puzzle together.  You don't have to use the Cupcake die this way, you could also color in the cupcake or even use glitter......oh so yummy sparkly glitter.

I added Glitter Dots to the frosting area on the cupcake - this little Glitter Dots are very sparkly & are flat so they don't make your card bulky.  The trim on the edges were cut using Fancy Frame Edges and I glued them to the card using spray adhesive, if you don't have that an X sticker machine works great too or there's Multi Purpose Adhesive Sheets too.

Lucy Label Smarty Pants

When I was using Karen Burniston's Square w/ Circle Frame Edges to make a card, the left over pieces really looked like a mouth with teeth to me.............so here's this cooky card made with various dies.  So the teeth is from Square w/ Circle Frame Edges, then I cut the whole card front panel from Blush Blossom & used the solid die from the same set to cut the mouth opening, the eyes are from the Circle Accordian Card, nose is from Oval Accordian, mustache from Lucy Label Pop Up, hair is from Agatha Edges and googlie eyes.

For the inside of my card, I cut a narrow piece of Just Add Cake DSP with the Lucy Label Pop Up & another pop up portion only from Tempting Tuquoise.  I used the Paper Piercing Pack Essentials to paper pierce around the circle on the bump and glued a scallop circle from Circle Accordian Card on top & then cut Happy Birthday from Turquoise Gemstone Shimmer Sheetz.  The sentiment is from Smarty Pants (retired) and stamped onto a label included in the Lucy Label set.

Pop It Ups Accordion Circle Giggle Greetings

This card is made using Karen Burniston's Pop It Ups Accordion Circle die for Elizabeth Craft Designs.  This die certainly doesn't dissapoint, it's so fun to make & also fun to receive because it's so cool how it opens.  My main image is from Giggle Greetings & when I saw these Circle Frame Edges with the holes I immediately thought of cheese....maybe I was hungry.  I used Stampin Write Markers to color the image, Paper Piercing Pack Essentials to get the paper piercing perfectly lined up around the circle & the banners are from the Lots of Pops set.

I put more banners on the inside of the card, alternated the colors of the Circle Frame Edges between Rose Red & So Saffron.  The Happy Birthday die is from Elizabeth Craft Designs cut from Smoky Slate cardstock & covered with Crystal Effects for a bit of shine.

Katie Label Designer Challenge

For Karen Burnison's  Designer Challenge we were to use any pivot die, any theme, any color!  That's a lot of choices we all could make and I chose to use Katie Label Pivot and make a open frame in the front of the card so you actually see the back of the card from the front.  Please visit this blog on Wednesday to see all the Designer Challenge teams projects & a card and video from Karen Burniston herself!
So let's jump right in to how I made this card.......
I glued my pink DSP to my Lucky Limeaide base, put it on my Magnetic Platform, put the Katie Label die on the fold, only on one side I nested the next size smallest Katie Label (makes the window or frame) & ran it through my Big Shot.  I used Agatha Edges to cut that beautiful flourish from Night of Navy.  The Happy Birthday die was cut from Silver Glimmer Paper & I added a Silver Glitter Dot for the dot on the "I".
This is a view from the back when the card is open.

This card is fun to look at from all angles, it doesn't have a better profile as they're all fun.  So from the back you see the sparkly Happy Birthday & a pink open frame/window.
Here's what you see when you open the card..........

Those fun birds are from Stampin' Up's Pun Fun stamp set & they're colored using colored pencils but their hats are paper pieced using the pink DSP  - I just adore these punny images & sentiments.  I stamped the sentiment & used the oval included in Katie Label Pivot to die cut the sentiment, then I used a stitched oval from Oval Accordian Card for the Night of Navy oval.  To get the Lucky Limeaide piece under the birds feet, I used the Agatha Edge to cut that nice grass/hill shape & the Katie Label to cut the excess off the edges.  The balloons are punched from DSP & Silver Glimmer Paper using the Small Oval Punch and then I attatched twine to the back & secured them with Dimensionals.
Here's a close up of the inside .......

I die cut another Katie Label in the multi colored DSP under the birds & just glued it over the Lucky Limeaide pivot portion.  You can see these punny birds are tweeting to each other & having a chirping good time.

Lots of Pops See Ya Later

For this card I used Karen Burniston's Square Ornate Base (Sizzix Pop N Cuts) to cut the polka dot portion - I just love this edge and it comes with a nice flourish on the die that matches (love that).  The sentiment is called See Ya Later and you can get it for free during Sale-A-Bration.  What's Sale-A-Bration (SAB) you ask?  It's Stampin Up's current promotion where you can choose any item for free from the SAB catalog when you purchase $50 from any catalog or even clearance through my online store.  Great right?  I know I like getting a bonus with purchase.
The inside sentiment is from In My Thoughts (retired) stamp set & is cut with Chalk Talk Framelits.  I used Epic Day Washi tape to hide the seams from the polka dot paper & the Sahara Sand base.  I colored all those adorable jungle animals with Stampin Write Markers.
And a close up of all the cuteness on the Lots of Pops......

There's plenty of space on the Lots of Pops to hold all the animals - no need to fight for space Lots of Pops has it.  The leaf & flower stickers I had in my stash.

And here's a side view so you can see all those tiers and how they are attached.
I will be teaching this card (paper will be similar, not exactly as shown) at Stamp Boutique on Saturday February 22nd at 1:30, so if you're local call the store to sign up for this fun class - you won't want to miss it.  I will also be doing a demo of the Pop It Ups collection that very same day from 10am until 12:30.  I will be showing how the dies work and answering any questions you may have, so stop by Stamp Boutique in Pompano Beach.

Happy Stamping & hope to see you Saturday February 22nd,
Raquel
