Elizabeth Craft Designs' November Designer Challenge - Gifts

The Elizabeth Craft Designs' Design Team was challenged to create a gift using Elizabeth Craft Designs' products.  I used some Peel-Offs, Silk Microfine Glitter & a clear ornament for my gift.
I removed one release sheet from Transparent Double Sided Adhesive and applied the Christmas Ornaments Round Peel-Off directly to the Transparent Double Sided Adhesive, covered with Cool Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter then shook off the excess.

Next I removed the other release sheet and applied it to the packaging from the embossing folders.  Tip: if you don't have any packaging, use acetate.

Here you can see the peel-off is now adhered to the packaging and ready to be colored with alcohol based markers then fussy cut.  After cutting the ornament out, poke a small hole in the top where the loop is and attach a small metal rod to the ornament.  Fold the Peel-Off ornament slightly to fit through the top of the clear ornament.  Put the top onto the clear ornament and let the small metal rod come through the little hole on the top and bend the wire so it doesn't fall out.
Apply Merry Christmas Peel-Off and holly around the ornament.  Color holly with alcohol based markers or a Sharpie.  Finish decorating your ornament with some tulle.
Happy Crafting,
Raquel

Remembering Your Birthday

I couldn't wait to use Karen Burniston's new Clouds embossing folder.......here's what I created.
I embossed the Clouds embossing folder onto Whisper White and added some polka dot clouds die cut from All Seasons Tree die set.  The sentiment from Remembering Your Birthday was stamped onto a Lucy Label.  I used Elizabeth Craft Designs' Balloons die, Double Sided Adhesive & Amethyst Silk Microfine Glitter for the balloons.

I used Karen Burniston's latest Pop It Ups called Happy Birthday PopUp and Honey the Bear on the inside of my card.  I love Elizabeth Craft Designs' new Transparent Double Sided Tape to create the Amethyst glitter lines.....I am challenged when it comes to putting things straight and there was no exception to this fact on this card........this card has that homemade touch!

Happy Stamping,
Raquel

Holiday Tag Team House Pivot

I created this House Pivot card for the Spectrum Noir Christmas/Winter challenge.
The images are from a retired stamp set called Holiday Tag Team.  I found the silver snowflake washi tape in my stash, so I adhered the washi tape to white cardstock to die cut the "Season's Greetings" and behind the house.  I used Outdoor Edges to create those lovely snowy rolling hills for my snowman.  The wreath and lights on the eaves are from the Holiday House.
The snowflake background was stamped using Encore Silver.  The All Seasons Tree was adhered behind the fence & lots of snowflakes have landed on the branches......with Glitter Dots centers of course.

Happy Stamping,
Raquel

Making Spirits Bright

I created this Katie Label Pivot Card for the Spectrum Noir Christmas/Winter challenge.

The base card was cut from Season of Style DSP and Old Olive card stock using Karen Burniston's Katie Label Pivot Card.  I used a companion die from Fancy Label Accordion to stamp my image from Making Spirits Bright stamp set and colored with Spectrum Noir markers.  To make the candy cane, I die cut the handle from the Umbrella die set from red/white striped paper.

I used Adorning Accents Edgelits & embossing folder to cover the middle seam of the card.

Happy Stamping,
Raquel

Karen Burniston's November Designer Challenge "Red, White or Blue" - Blue card

I'm back again today with my 2nd card for Karen Burniston's Designer Challenge. This time my card is all about blue, thinking about somebody and even missing them.  Elizabeth Craft Designs has just come out with Transparent Double Sided Tape in several different sizes, for today's card I have used 3mm, 6mm & 10mm.

I got the idea from Els to make glittered paper & it's so easy to do!  Simply apply several different sizes of Transparent Double Sided Tape to your cardstock, remove the release sheet & cover with Turquoise Silk Microfine Glitter.  Want to make multi-colored glittered paper?  No problem, simply remove the release sheet from a couple lines then cover with Silk Microfine Glitter, then repeat with other colors until you've covered all lines with glitter.

The sentiment from A Dozen Thoughts was stamped onto a Lucy Label.

Honey the Bear is blue without her bear friend & she's holding a honey pot full of flowers anxiously awaiting her friends arrival.  The sentiment from In My Thoughts was stamped onto a Lucy Label.

Here's a side view of how I attached Honey to the Garden Bench.  I used the arm rest of the Garden Bench & folded it like a box & simply glued it to the back & bottom of the bench.  Doing this allows Honey to sit further forward on the bench & gives even more dimension.  By using the arm rest, I didn't need to measure anything - easy peasy.

Thanks for stopping by today & don't forget to check out the Elizabeth Craft Designs' blog tomorrow for the entire Design Team's cards and even a card & video from Karen.

Karen Burniston's November Designer Challenge "Red, white or Blue"

It's that time of the month again for Karen Burniston's Designer Challenge!  This month the Design Team was challenged to use red, white or blue as the primary color of our card with accent colors of gold, silver, black or kraft.  Since I just got the beautiful Sprig embossing folder from Elizabeth Craft Designs, my card idea came right to me.

I used Gold Foil under the Sprig embossed layer.  I created a circle ring using Accordion Circle & Spiral Circle Pull then covered  the wreath with the pine boughs from the Candle die and added a bow from Ornament Set 3 & Glitter Dots.  The sentiment from Wishing You (retired) was stamped using Encore Gold then embossed with clear embossing powder and die cut onto a Lucy Label.

I used Agatha Edges to cut a shape into the top & bottom of my card and to add Gold Foil flourish.  I adhered several snowflakes from Spiral Circle Pull Card behind the Holiday House.  I made the Holiday House larger by using several of the accessory dies from the House Pivot .....wouldn't we all like a larger house during the holidays?

Check back tomorrow for my second card that promises to make you "Blue".

Handmade Holidays Blog Hop

Handmade Holidays 2014 Hop Logo
Welcome to the 4th Annual Handmade Holidays Blog Hop! A few years ago we were looking online for handmade gift ideas and thought it would be great if there was a resource dedicated JUST to handmade gift ideas. Enter the Handmade Holidays hop! We've gathered over 100 of our creative blogger friends in the craft industry as well as some of our fellow product manufacturers to bring you a plethora of inspiring gift ideas you can make now to give to your friends, family, and colleagues. Pin and bookmark these ideas for this holiday season and to use throughout the year! Each day of the hop features approximately 30 gift projects and you can "hop" from one blog to another to check them all out.

I covered a Mini Hinged Sign from Walnut Hollow with pieces of embossed and alochol ink-altered Shimmer Sheetz from Elizabeth Craft Designs.  The Hinged Sign can be vertical or horizontal and will hold a 4x6 photo.  I decorated a wooden clothespin with a strip of Shimmer Sheetz.   Clip it to the sign to hold a different photo for each season or switch photos as often as you want!

I embossed White and Blue Iridescent & Blue Metallic Shimmer Sheetz with the following embossing folders:

Flower Mosaic, Sea Glass, Swirly Curves, Lots of Dots, Trendy Tiles 2 and Damask.

I used a felt pad and Blending Solution to add Meadow, Currant & Slate Alcohol Inks to the Shimmer Sheetz.  On some of the Shimmer Sheetz I used a pouncing motion & others I swiped the felt pad across the top.  I sanded over the Swirly Curves, Trendy Tiles 2 & Lots of Dots embossed areas with a sanding block to tone down the shine and hightlight the patterns.  (Wipe the sanded Shimmer Sheetz with a damp paper towel after sanding.)

To create the patchwork pieces, cut the Shimmer Sheetz into the following sizes:
(2) at 2 x 2            (2) at 2 x 1.75           (3) at 1 x 2
2 x 1.25                 2 x 2.75                     1 x 1         1 x 4
3/8 x 3 5/16 for the clothespin (Tip: measure your clothespin and cut a piece that fits)

I used Double Sided Adhesive to adhere all the pieces of Shimmer Sheetz to the Hinged Mini Sign.  On the bottom of the sign where the curves are, I hand cut the Shimmer Sheetz to fit.  I applied Border Lines Peel-Offs around all the Shimmer Sheetz pieces.

I sponged the inside and edges of the Hinged Sign with Walnut Stain Distress Ink.  I think this would be a great place to put a hand written sentiment that the recipient would cherish.

Here's a close up of all the beautiful Shimmer Sheetz!

Pop It Ups Circle Accordion

I love those candle Peel-Off Stickers and I love them even more on glitter!  I placed the candles onto white cardstock that had Double Sided Adhesive applied to it, covered with Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter then colored with alcohol based markers.  I used Square with Circle Frame Edges (dotted edges) on the front of my accordion.

I used those same edges on the inside of my card - I love how they really stand out on highly contrasting cardstock.
If you have any questions on how I assembled my card, please don't hesitate to leave a comment.

Happy Stamping,
Raquel
