Glitter Swallowtail

The finished size of this card is 5 x 5.  To make the glittered Swallowtail, I stamped Swallowtail on Whisper White using black ink.  Then I adhered a piece of Double Sided Adhesive over the stamped image, removed the release sheet & covered with Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter, shook off the excess & polished the glitter with my finger.  After those steps I am ready to color & believe me that coloring on glitter is FUN!  I received a set of Tombow Dual Brush Pens in Primary colors as a member of the ECD DT (look out for a blog hop next month) and these pens are what I used to color the Swallowtail.  After I finished coloring, I traced the around the edges of the image with a black marker just to make the edges stand out more.  I stamped the sentiment from One In A Million onto a Lucy Label die cut & sponged the edges with Orchid Opulence Classic Ink.

Tombow pens color beautifully on glitter, however they take longer to dry than alcohol based markers.  You can also use Stampin' Write Markers to color on glitter, I have tried them out too and they take a bit longer to dry as well.  I used the blender pen included in the set to blend out the blue around the edges of the Swallowtail image.  It was really hard getting a good photo of all the glitter, but believe me it IS very glittery.  Thanks to Frances Byrne for helping with photo editing.

For the base of the card I used Orchid Opulence card stock to try Karen Burniston's technique featured in her March Designer Challenge where she added a chunk of Lots of Pops onto her card.  For this card I used the Lucy Label & one chunk of Lots of Pops to animate my Fuchsia Silk Microfine Glitter flagpoles with Beautiful Wings Embosslits.  To make the Beautiful Wings Embosslits garland, I used glue dots on the wings to attach them to each other & onto the flagpoles - I even added small rhinestones in the center of each butterfly.  For the glittered butterflies (Small Butterfly #713 from ECD) I cut the bottom layer from patterned paper & the top from Orchid Opulence covered with Double Sided Adhesive which I covered with Fuchsia Silk Microfine Glitter.

I used Agatha Edges to cut the shape into the top & bottom of the card and the flourish too.  The sentiment is from One In A Million stamp set, stamped onto a Lucy Label die cut & I sponged the edges with Orchid Opulence.  To get the patterned paper onto the Lucy Label, I just cut another pop up portion of the Lucy Label & just cut out the front piece.

Happy Stamping,
Raquel
