Elizabeth Craft Designs' August Asian Designer Challenge

This month's Elizabeth Craft Designs' Designer Challenge is Asian themed, so I decided to use the Lotus Blossom Peel-Off Sticker as my main focal point.  I love how this card turned out.
I started with an A2 red card base, black mat & watercolor paper.  I applied the Lotus Blossom Peel-Off Sticker to the watercolor paper then colored using Stampin' Write Markers & an aquapainter.  After coloring, I used Vintage Photo Distress Ink to sponge all around the edges.  I used three different stamps to stamp over the entire watercolor paper.  I first stamped an image by spritzing water onto my stamp and then stamping, it was too subtle so I stamped with Vintage Photo (top right & bottom left).  Next I stamped a bamboo stamp using gold pigment (top left & bottom right).  Finally I stamped the symbols with Black Memento ((right side of card).

I wanted the background stamping to be subtle and create an interesting pattern.  I added Gold Border Lines all around the edges of the watercolor paper - it looks so regal in person.

In this photo you can see the beautiful Gold Border Lines & the subtle bamboo pattern.

For my second card, I used the Lotus Flower die and Thinking of You Stand Up Helper.

I wanted to keep the colors of this card to tone on tone with one accent color being gold.  I die cut the solid layer of the Lotus Flower die from Orange Iris Shimmer Sheetz.  I die cut the detail layer from gold cardstock.  The oval behind the flowers was cut from the Oval Accordion Card, the Swirly Curves embossing folder was inked with gold pigment ink prior to embossing.  I die cut Thank You Stand Up Helper, cut with a little border on the bottom & added a gold glitter line.  I also added more Gold Borderlines around the edges.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed this tutorial.

Pop It Ups Double Spiral Circle Pull Card Rubber Ducky

This card is made using Karen Burniston's Pop It Ups Spiral Circle Pull Card (which I have used many times before) but I doubled the circle portion of the die.  I used Elizabeth Craft Designs' Rubber Ducky for the front of my card.  I curved the Congratulations around the circle - so easy to do - just bend the die cut.  I cut the Rubber Ducky from Yellow Velvet and sponged a bit of orange ink around the edges.

So cute!  I used Stocking Solid die to create the little booties.  The little bow is from Ornament Set 3.

I hid a little Rubber Ducky that will be revealed within the spiral when the card is fully opened.  I used a Stampin' Write Marker to trace around the circle and Lorna Label dies - I love that look!

Happy Stamping,
Raquel

Karen Burniston August Designer Challenge - the Characters Spiral Circle Pull

I love the Characters that Karen Burniston designed for her Pop It Ups collection, they are so much fun to create with!  For my second card for the August Designer Challenge, I doubled the Spiral Circle Pull so I could use two characters on my card.

The finished size of my card is 5 x 5, I started out with cardstock sized 5 x 11 & scored at 4" at both ends of the card, aligned the Spiral Circle Pull on the score lines and cut (you will be making 2 separate cuts, both times not cutting the tuck slots).  Recognize those candles?  They are the pickets from the House Pivot Card.  The Happy Birthday is an Elizabeth Craft Designs die.  Poppy is all decked out using Props 1 - he's even got a real feather in his hat!  Poppy is  holding a present  die cut from Evergreen Pivot Card.

I used Clock & Gears on the left inside circle, complete with Silver Metallic Shimmer Sheetz for the clock hands.  Chilly the Penguin is all dressed up to party too, he's all decked out with the accessories from Props 1 too.

I pieced the "It's Party Time!" from the Happy Birthday, Seasons Greetings & Dream word dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs.  The balloons have the year 1999 on them so we can "Party like it's 1999".  I even added more of those candles on the spiral and a present on the inside right circle.

I hope you find time to party with the Characters too.  Don't forget to visit Karen's blog tomorrow as she will also be celebrating the Characters with a card & video.

Karen Burniston August Designer Challenge - the Characters

I used Outdoor Edges to curve the Congratulations die cut and I even wrapped the twine around it too.  I've also used All Seasons Tree and the balloon is from Circle Spiral Pull Card.

I doubled Lorna Label and attached the All Seasons Tree so my tree frog aka Hoppy the Frog has a nice place to sit.  I copied Karen's instructions on how to make Hoppy into a tree frog.  I used Outdoor Edges on the edges of my card (striped paper).

He's just too cute as a tree frog!  I will be teaching how to make this card at my local store, Stamp Boutique in September.

Happy Stamping,
Raquel

Pop It Ups Holiday House Tag

Here's a quick tag I made using the Holiday House.  I had found this paper in the scraps bag at my local store & thought the pathway would be perfect for the Holiday House.  I used the fence and house from House Pivot to complete the house.

The tag on the left was made using Karen Burniston's Pop It Ups Evergreen Pivot Card simply by using just the pivoting portion of the die cut.  I used the companion dies to decorate the rest of the tag.  The tag on the right is made from Holiday House (decorator piece) with Elizabeth Craft Designs' Holly Leaves & Berries.

Pop It Ups Evergreen Pivot Card

I made this card from scraps that my local store, Stamp Boutique, had on hand.  I used the Evergreen Pivot card to cut the base from the Graphic 45 pattern paper & I also cut a navy piece and snipped out the trees.  I used Outdoor Edges to create the snowy hills.  The Merry Christmas die cut is from Elizabeth Craft Designs.  The presents are included in the Evergreen Pivot Card - awesome!

I cut the three companion decorator trees from green felt paper & accented the patterns in the die with Stickles.  I die cut two sets of ornaments for the trees from red pattern paper.

Karen's Katie Label

This is a birthday card I made for the one and only most awesome Pop It Ups designer, Karen Burniston herself.  I used Katie Accordion, Butterfly Pivot Card, Butterfly Accessories and Oval Accordion.  The sentiment was computer generated.

I used Elizabeth Craft Designs' Happy Birthday die to make the "Birthday Hi".  The cute little flowers are from Spiral Circle Pull Card and I have added glitter dots to all of them.

I cut the spiral from acetate and attached it to the last two panels.  I glued little butterflies and flowers to the spiral pull so they all move when the card is opened.  I got that idea when Karen did a video on combining a pivot and an accordion -Pivot Accordion Card.  I wanted to combine Katie Accordion with the Butterfly Pivot, the Butterfly Pivot was too large and just didn't look right.  I had this beautiful paper & I wanted butterflies on the card - I was determined to get butterflies on there somewhere so I decided to try to merge Katie Accordion with Spiral Circle Pull Card.

Here you can see the spiral and all those beautiful butterflies fluttering around.

So much fun!  I hope you enjoyed this very special for an extraordinary lady.

Pop It Ups Holiday House

I've used a companion decorator die from Lorna Label and Season's Greetings for the front of my card.  I purposefully kept it simple as the surprise is on the inside.

I doubled the Lorna Label so I could make a candy cane path to my Holiday House.  The trees are from Evergreen Pivot, the house is Holiday House, the candy canes are the umbrella handle from Rainy Day, the slots are from Lucy Label.
I attached the pines to the large Lorna Label, the Holiday House is on the bump & all the candy canes are on an "L" bracket cut from acetate using the post from Lots of Pops.

That one lone snowflake is from Circle Spiral Pull Card.  I die cut the lights from Double Sided Adhesive and white card stock, glittered with  Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter and colored them with my Spectrum Noir markers.

Happy Stamping,
Raquel

Pop It Ups double Lorna Label

I had made this card for my local craft store, Stamp Boutique, when I did a Pop It Ups/Elizabeth Craft Designs demo there.  I wanted to show just how quick & easy it can be to make pop up cards.
I used one of the companion decorator dies from Lorna Label and Butterfly Pivot on the front.  I love how the Lorna Label has a stitched decorator die.

Now this may look difficult - but it's not.  To double the Lorna Label, simply leave your card stock folded in half & cut at you normally would.....ta da and it's instantly doubled!  I know, awesome right?  And not only that I also have a floating floor to animate the Butterfly Accessories.  I used the little slot die from Lucy Label to die cut little slots so I could put the acetate strips in to hold up the butterflies.

A top view - so cool!

Happy Stamping,
Raquel

Katie Accordion with Spiral Circle Pull

I was inspired by Karen Burniston's July Designer Challenge video to merge an Accordion with another die.... we'll get to that once the card is opened.  I die cut 2 white and 1 yellow Kaite Accordions for the base.  I also cut 2 of each patterned paper, cut out the Katie Label to create a frame.  I stapled 3 scallop circles together to make a cloud template then sponged with Broken China Distress Ink.  The image was colored with Spectrum Noir markers & fussy cut.

I thought this card would be great to give a teacher.  I used several companion dies from Katie Pivot to stamp the inside sentiment on.  On the front & back panel, I used the grass from Outdoor Edges.  The All Seasons Tree fits perfectly and looks so pretty with lots of little flowers from that same die set.  I added Glitter Dots to the centers of all the flowers.

Here's where I attached the acetate spiral from Spiral Circle Pull.  I put lots of flowers & some apples on the spiral - and they all move when the card is opened.

And a view from the top.

Happy Stamping,
Raquel
