Endless Birthday Wishes

I had a left over kit from my May stamp camp so I repurposed one of the cards into this - totally different from its original card.  I got the new Photoploymer (clear) set called Endless Birthday Wishes and just couldn't wait to use it.
I stamped the cake three times and colored it with Watercolor Pencils.

Happy Stamping,
Raquel

Elizabeth Craft Designs May Designer Challenge - Flat A2 card

The Elizabeth Craft Designs' Design Team members were challenged to make a flat A2 sized card using Peel-Offs or any of their dies.  I chose to use Jackie's Doll Peel-Offs to make a reposition able cling for my neighbor who will be graduating  5th grade.
To frame the image, I used Karen Burniston's Oval Dots Frame Edges.  This particular die is meant to be used on her Accordion dies, but you can use it on its own just like I have by die cutting 4 of the frames & putting them together on a 4 x 4 piece of cardstock.

Here's some of the pieces I used to create this card.  To make the reposition able cling, you  will need a Transfer Sheet, Double Sided Adhesive & a Peel-Off.  Els has a wonderful video on this technique.  Basically you would cut a piece of Double Sided Adhesive and  Transfer Sheet large enough to fit your image then stick the Double Sided Adhesive onto the Transfer Sheet. Next, remove the release sheet and lay your Peel-Off sticker onto the release sheet sticky side up, then lay your Double Sided Adhesive piece on the top.  Then cover with Silk Microfine Glitter, shake off excess and polish with your finger.  Now you are ready to color and cut out.  When you remove the backing from the Transfer Sheet, you'll have your cling!  It's really cool and you should try it out.
What I really like about Jackie's Dolls Peel-Offs is that they also have little accessory pieces to layer on top for extra dimension.  For example the bow, bodice & headband as pictured above.

I added a few of the circles to the inside of the card - these are clings too!

House Pivot Card

Here's a sample card I made for my local store, Stamp Boutique, featuring Karen Burniston's newest die called House Pivot.  I made it into a dog house for this cute Art Impressions dog stamp set.  There's an unexpected twist inside the card.........

His back side is on an action wobbler so it wiggles and jiggles!  It's so much fun!

Happy Stamping,
Raquel

Karen Burniston's May Designer Challenge "Fly" #2

Here's my second card I made for Karen Burniston's May Designer Challenge themed "Fly".....as in butterfly of course.  My son likes to ask me "How do you turn a fly into a butterfly?"  and the answer is "Put butter on him".  For this card, I used Els' Magic Transfer technique with Orange Iris Shimmer Sheetz & Butterflies embossing folder.  I love this technique and it's so sparkly!  The sentiment is from One in a Million stamp set.

It's a Z fold pivot!  I started with 5.5" x 12" piece of cardstock scored at 4" and 8", die cut using the Butterfly Pivot die on the 8" fold.  It's really easy to make, I hope you'll try it out for yourself.
Here's some pieces that I started out with.

The butterfly pieces are from Butterfly Accessories and Butterfly Pivot card.

A close up of the pivot area.  I used a glue dot to attach the blue butterfly right on the fold of the pivoting butterfly.  I used Pacific Point Stampin' Write Marker to make the butterfly trail and trace around the edges of the scallop ovals.

I made the banner longer to fit my sentiment by putting only half of the cutting plate on the banner die when die cutting.  For the second part of the cut, I  moved the die further down the sentiment and finished the cut.

A view from the top.

I used a Spectrum Noir marker to color inside the embossed dots on the Shimmer Sheetz.

I hope you enjoyed this Z fold Butterfly Pivot.

Karen Burniston May Designer Challenge

It's that time again for Karen Burniston's Designer Challenge.  For this month's challenge, we were given the word "FLY" to be interpreted how ever we saw fit.  I chose to use the stamp set Up, Up & Away for my interpretation of the word.  I used Stampin' Write Markers to color directly onto the stamp & my Stamp-a-ma-Jig to line up the basket & banners.  The clouds are from  All Seasons Tree; the circle and scallop circle are from the Accordion Circle.

I modified Lucy Label to stand up in the center of the card (tutorial is at the end of this post).  I used Window Sheets to help support the balloons & the Lucy Labels.

I just love those Cool Diamond Silk Microfine Glittered clouds.  I used my Stampin' Write Marker to outline the edges of the clouds.

Here's a view from the side.  You can see a little piece of the Window Sheet that was glued between the Lucy Labels.  I also glued more Window Sheet where the score lines are, as I needed it to not fold & stand straight up.

This is the view from the other side of the card, it's been decorated on both sides of the Lucy Label.  I die cut 3 each of the Happy Birthday die, glued them together & covered with Crystal Effects - I love this thicker glossy look.

A look from the top of the card.....flying high in the sky.
Now I'll show you how I cut this card.

You will want to cut 2 base cards for this, both are cut the same as shown.  You will stop your cutting plate just before the top bump.

Sorry for the blurry photo.  Now you can see I have cut both of my base cards.
The top base card in the photo - I used scissors to cut further up into the card to make a cut out so it can fit over the other base card.  Basically you're cutting a little bit further than where the Lucy Label die would've cut if you cut how you normally would.
The bottom base card in the photo - I cut this one on the fold/middle score line & this will be slid into the other base & glued together onto your backing card.  Put a small piece of Window Sheet between the 2 shelf areas & also where the Lucy Label and shelf area meet (where the scores are) for support in standing straight up. Thanks to Jake the camera man for his assistance in the assembly video.
To help the card stay closed, I stuck 2 small Magnetic Discs between the layers to help keep the card closed.
On Wednesday don't forget to stop back to my blog for my second card and visit Elizabeth Craft Designs Blog for all of the Design Team projects including one from Karen Burniston!

House Pivot Card

Here's a sample card I made for my local craft store, Stamp Boutique, using Karen Burniston's House Pivot Card die.  This die is so much fun & can be used for so many different themes.

I've used the All Seasons Tree with all 3 different leaves.....here comes the tree police as I have clashed my pattern of leaves (inside joke of Karen Burniston's Design Team).  When Karen first debut her Pop It Ups Collection, one of the Design Team Members used all 3 different leaves on a card & there was a comment that the tree police were going to be called.  No arrests here, just awesome cards made using awesome dies.

Happy Stamping,
Raquel

Spectrum Noir "Flowers"

I am entering this Fabulous Florets card into the Spectrum Noir "Flowers" challenge.I sponged Strawberry Slush & Crisp Canteloupe on Whisper White, spritzed with water & let dry. After it dried, I stamped the splatter stamp from the Paper Pumpkin Welcome Kit & let that dry.....ok I used my heat tool as I am too impatient.   Then I stamped the stems with Old Olive.  I stamped the flowers using Memento's Black Tuxedo & colored them using my Spectrum Noir markers.  I added a strip of Gold Fancy Foil Vellum on the top.

Happy Stamping,
Raquel
