Pop It Ups Sneak Peak - Bathtub with Pop Stand

Welcome to another Sneak Peak of Karen Burniston's Pop It Ups collection!  I'd like to introduce you to Whiskers the Cat.  In my opinion, Whiskers is purrrfect!  Just to show you how to change Whiskers' looks, I made him differently on the front than on the inside.  Whiskers comes with the little mouse too.
Karen created a new pop up called Pop Stand, so here's the Bathtub Pop Stand!  The pop stand works similar to all the other dies by lining up the alignment nubs with your score line but this die cuts four little tabs that will pop up and it's on those four tabs that you adhere the bathtub to.  You will die cut two bathtubs, adhere the feet to the tabs then adhere just the ends of the bathtub together.

To make Whiskers fishing pole, I used the snorkel from Props 3 & just stopped the cutting pad short so I could elongate the pole.  I used Silver Shimmer Sheetz & the swirl from Rectangle Pull Card to make the fishing line.  I added shading to Whiskers with some Chalk Inks.

Happy Crafting,
Raquel

Karen Burniston's December Designer Challenge - Honey's Double Heart Pivot

It's time again for Karen Burniston's Designer Challenge.  Each member of the team chose 1 or 2 holidays so the entire year will be represented with awesome cards - so much inspiration!
I chose Valentine's Day.  My card was inspired by Karen's recent Pivot Doubling Technique.  Click this link to see Karen in action demonstrating this technique.
I've used the Heart Pivot die for my base.  I cut my patterened paper at 5.5 x 7.5 scored at .5" from each end and then in the middle at 3.25.  The 2 Chocolate Chip panels were cut at 5 x 5.
I also used the new Ring Frame Edges around the pivoting heart on the front.

Inspired by Karen again, I used the shadow layer of Honey the Bear and some of the pieces from the detail layer to make Honey look very different.  I die cut another shadow layer for Honey's head, added eyes, nose & ears to the head then cut just the head portion off & used pop dots to make it more dimensional.  All Chocolate Chip pieces of Honey were sponged with Whisper White Craft Ink.
I stamped the sentiment from Delightful Dozen onto a heart that is also included in the die set.  The key (also included in the Heart Pivot) was cut from Pink Shimmer Sheetz.  To make the heart frames (all 4 of them), I simply nested 2 different sized hearts and die cut at the same time.

Happy Stamping,
Raquel

Elizabeth Craft Designs' August Asian Designer Challenge

This month's Elizabeth Craft Designs' Designer Challenge is Asian themed, so I decided to use the Lotus Blossom Peel-Off Sticker as my main focal point.  I love how this card turned out.
I started with an A2 red card base, black mat & watercolor paper.  I applied the Lotus Blossom Peel-Off Sticker to the watercolor paper then colored using Stampin' Write Markers & an aquapainter.  After coloring, I used Vintage Photo Distress Ink to sponge all around the edges.  I used three different stamps to stamp over the entire watercolor paper.  I first stamped an image by spritzing water onto my stamp and then stamping, it was too subtle so I stamped with Vintage Photo (top right & bottom left).  Next I stamped a bamboo stamp using gold pigment (top left & bottom right).  Finally I stamped the symbols with Black Memento ((right side of card).

I wanted the background stamping to be subtle and create an interesting pattern.  I added Gold Border Lines all around the edges of the watercolor paper - it looks so regal in person.

In this photo you can see the beautiful Gold Border Lines & the subtle bamboo pattern.

For my second card, I used the Lotus Flower die and Thinking of You Stand Up Helper.

I wanted to keep the colors of this card to tone on tone with one accent color being gold.  I die cut the solid layer of the Lotus Flower die from Orange Iris Shimmer Sheetz.  I die cut the detail layer from gold cardstock.  The oval behind the flowers was cut from the Oval Accordion Card, the Swirly Curves embossing folder was inked with gold pigment ink prior to embossing.  I die cut Thank You Stand Up Helper, cut with a little border on the bottom & added a gold glitter line.  I also added more Gold Borderlines around the edges.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed this tutorial.
