Karen's Katie Label

This is a birthday card I made for the one and only most awesome Pop It Ups designer, Karen Burniston herself.  I used Katie Accordion, Butterfly Pivot Card, Butterfly Accessories and Oval Accordion.  The sentiment was computer generated.

I used Elizabeth Craft Designs' Happy Birthday die to make the "Birthday Hi".  The cute little flowers are from Spiral Circle Pull Card and I have added glitter dots to all of them.

I cut the spiral from acetate and attached it to the last two panels.  I glued little butterflies and flowers to the spiral pull so they all move when the card is opened.  I got that idea when Karen did a video on combining a pivot and an accordion -Pivot Accordion Card.  I wanted to combine Katie Accordion with the Butterfly Pivot, the Butterfly Pivot was too large and just didn't look right.  I had this beautiful paper & I wanted butterflies on the card - I was determined to get butterflies on there somewhere so I decided to try to merge Katie Accordion with Spiral Circle Pull Card.

Here you can see the spiral and all those beautiful butterflies fluttering around.

So much fun!  I hope you enjoyed this very special for an extraordinary lady.

Happy Stamping,
Raquel

Pop It Ups double Lorna Label

I had made this card for my local craft store, Stamp Boutique, when I did a Pop It Ups/Elizabeth Craft Designs demo there.  I wanted to show just how quick & easy it can be to make pop up cards.
I used one of the companion decorator dies from Lorna Label and Butterfly Pivot on the front.  I love how the Lorna Label has a stitched decorator die.

Now this may look difficult - but it's not.  To double the Lorna Label, simply leave your card stock folded in half & cut at you normally would.....ta da and it's instantly doubled!  I know, awesome right?  And not only that I also have a floating floor to animate the Butterfly Accessories.  I used the little slot die from Lucy Label to die cut little slots so I could put the acetate strips in to hold up the butterflies.

A top view - so cool!

Happy Stamping,
Raquel

Karen Burniston's May Designer Challenge "Fly" #2

Here's my second card I made for Karen Burniston's May Designer Challenge themed "Fly".....as in butterfly of course.  My son likes to ask me "How do you turn a fly into a butterfly?"  and the answer is "Put butter on him".  For this card, I used Els' Magic Transfer technique with Orange Iris Shimmer Sheetz & Butterflies embossing folder.  I love this technique and it's so sparkly!  The sentiment is from One in a Million stamp set.

It's a Z fold pivot!  I started with 5.5" x 12" piece of cardstock scored at 4" and 8", die cut using the Butterfly Pivot die on the 8" fold.  It's really easy to make, I hope you'll try it out for yourself.
Here's some pieces that I started out with.

The butterfly pieces are from Butterfly Accessories and Butterfly Pivot card.

A close up of the pivot area.  I used a glue dot to attach the blue butterfly right on the fold of the pivoting butterfly.  I used Pacific Point Stampin' Write Marker to make the butterfly trail and trace around the edges of the scallop ovals.

I made the banner longer to fit my sentiment by putting only half of the cutting plate on the banner die when die cutting.  For the second part of the cut, I  moved the die further down the sentiment and finished the cut.

A view from the top.

I used a Spectrum Noir marker to color inside the embossed dots on the Shimmer Sheetz.

I hope you enjoyed this Z fold Butterfly Pivot.

Pop It Ups Butterfly Pivot Swirls & Curls

I've used Karen Burniston's Pop It Ups Butterfly Pivot to create this card, it's full of beautiful butterflies.  Look at the large butterfly on the pivot......I made that by laying a butterfly stencil down onto the gold metallic paper & then putting clear glossy embossing paste over the top, now here's the hard part LET IT DRY....and I mean completely dry without touching it.  I must confess that I am impatient while waiting for things to dry (as you will see on the open card).  Back to the embossing paste, when it's wet I sprinkled Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter over the top - it really sparkles.  So after this has completely dried I used the butterfly die included in the Butterfly Pivot set to cut the shape out.
To make the lovely shaped edge & flourish, I used Agatha Edges.  That brings me to the other smaller butterfly from Butterfly Accessories die set.  I used the filagree die in that set to cut a stencil from acetate, laid the stencil down onto my gold metallic paper & white embossing paste over the top & while it was wet I sprinkled  glitter gold embossing powder over the top.  Now I wish that my gold glitter embossing powder had more glitter than what it has, but I can't have it all now can I?  So I had to let it dry completely before hand cutting the butterfly out.  I die cut another filagree butterfly in gold & put that right over the top so the holes/openings all lign up & it makes a nice 3-D butterfly.

Here's the inside & I hope you can see how sparkly these butterflies really are.  The sentiment is a Stampin Up Hostess set called Swirls & Curls Verses and is die cut using Chalk Talk Framelits.  To cut the Whisper White piece, I used my trimmer to make it more narrow than the die really is & just cut the edge so it would match the shape of my mat piece.  I used Crushed Curry & Calypso Coral Stampin Write Markers to color over the top of the sentiment.  I wish my handwriting were this neat, I know a gal who does actually write this neat on her cards - yes Karen Aicken I am talkin' bout you.

And a close up to see the embossing paste goodness!  Look on the back butterfly, can you see it - I didn't wait for it to completely dry so it squashed a bit when I die cut the butterfly out.  Oops & lesson learned.

Happy Stamping,
Raquel
